Liposuction
Removal of localized fat that resists diet and exercise, refining the contour.
Body contouring
An abdomen that bothers you can have excess skin, localized fat, diastasis, or all three together. The right surgery changes entirely depending on the answer.
01 · Overview
Techniques to treat localized fat, sagging and body proportions, with individual indication.
Resistant localized fat, in someone with good skin elasticity and a stable weight, is treated with liposuction. Excess skin, with or without separated abdominal muscles, is treated with a tummy tuck or mini tummy tuck.
Confusing these cases is the most common mistake: isolated liposuction in someone with excess skin tends to worsen sagging, because it removes the volume that was filling out the skin envelope without treating the skin itself.
In practice: liposuction treats localised fat; a tummy tuck removes excess skin and corrects diastasis; a mini tummy tuck handles more limited cases; and liposculpture redistributes your own fat to shape the contour. The right combination comes from the clinical exam.

Liposuction treats localized fat in someone with good skin elasticity. A tummy tuck treats excess skin and, when present, diastasis. They are different problems, with different corrections, and often indicated together.
No. It's not a treatment for obesity and doesn't replace lifestyle changes. It reshapes contour in someone who already has a stable weight; weight stability is actually a prerequisite.
A mini tummy tuck is indicated when excess skin is restricted to the area below the navel. In that case, there is no umbilical repositioning and the scar is smaller. If there is excess above the navel, a full tummy tuck is indicated. Both surgeries correct diastasis of the rectus abdominis muscles, when present.
No. It requires good skin quality, an appropriate fat percentage and a regular training routine. Without those factors the definition doesn't hold and the result tends to be irregular.
No. It improves mild to moderate sagging and enhances the result, but when there is true excess skin, surgical resection remains the indication.
The period is defined by the extent of the procedure, generally a few weeks of continuous use. Compression directly influences the final contour.
The removed cells do not return, but the remaining ones can increase in volume with weight gain. Keeping a stable weight is part of the result.
It's possible, but pregnancy tends to undo the abdominal wall correction. If you're planning a pregnancy in the near term, it's usually best to postpone the surgery.
